How to Make the Most Money in FarmVille
FarmVille is a great place to go to escape the rigors of everyday life. You can get back to nature and enjoy the peace and tranquility that comes from working on the land. However, not everything in FarmVille is an escape from the ordinary. You still need money for just about everything you do. You have to buy the seeds to plant, and you’ll even have to pay a small sum for each plot of land you plow.
These costs are easily managed of course because you’re harvesting and selling your crops for more than it cost to plant them. There are a lot of other items you can buy in the FarmVille market to decorate and build up your farm, and you won’t be able to get these without some significant sums of cash. Buying these items will also get you some much needed experience points to help you advance to the next level, so you’ll have to find a way to make sure you have enough money for all the discretionary items you want to buy.
Earnings Per Hour
Because you’ll be needing your coins for so much in FarmVille, you need to maximize the earning potential of your farm. The best way to do this is to figure out which crops pay out the most coins per hour. For example, strawberries sell for 35 coins per plot of land harvested and they take 4 hours to grow. Pumpkins, on the other hand, take 8 hours to grow and sell for 68 coins per plot of land harvested.
That means, for the same acreage planted, you’ll earn 8.75 coins per hour by planting strawberries, while the pumpkins will only get you 8.5 coins per hour. This may seem like a small difference, but these small amounts can add up fast. Of course, you won’t be getting your money’s worth unless you can harvest the crops as soon as they’re ready and immediately replant on that land.
A Quick Turnaround
If you’re not going to be able to get back to your farm for 8 hours, you’re much better off planting the pumpkins. The longer you leave a crop after it’s done maturing, the less you’ll be getting per hour once you harvest it. You can only make money fast on crops that mature quickly if you’re going to be able to harvest and replant as soon as they’re ready for sale. Make sure you take these details into consideration when you’re selecting your seeds at the Market, and you’ll be seeing your bank account swelling in no time.

How to Level Up Quickly in Farmville
There are more and more people joining the ranks of FarmVille every day. No one can get enough of this game and there are plenty of reasons why. In FarmVille, you can get away from the noise and stress of everyday life. Just relax, plant some seeds, harvest some crops â not a bad way to spend an evening. And as you do this, you’ll naturally advance in levels over time.
There may come a time, though, when you want to get a little more out of the game. Every time you move up a level, you unlock new seeds, decorations, and other discretionary items. This means that in order to get the most out of your FarmVille experience, you’ll have to level up quickly to unlock as many items and bonuses as you can.
The Basics
But how do you do this? There are several things to keep in mind if you want to level up quickly in FarmVille. You probably already know that in order to level up, you need to accumulate experience points. For example, each plot of land you plow gets you one experience point. In the early stages of game play, the number of experience points you get by plowing land and planting crops is plenty to allow you to advance at a reasonable pace. Once you get through the initial stages though, you start to need more and more experience points to level up.
Focus on Experience
When you want to build up experience points quickly in FarmVille, you have to supplement what you gain from your normal harvests with other activities. Making improvements to your farm is a good way to gain some quick chunks of experience points. Buildings yield the most, but you can get experience from putting up just about any decoration or structure. You just have to pay close attention to the amounts of experience points each item will deliver.
You should also take experience points into consideration when deciding which crops to plant. Crops that take less than a day to grow only yield 1 experience point, while crops that take longer yield 2. That doesn’t mean you only want to plant crops that offer 2 experience points however. If you can get back and harvest them as soon as they’re ready, crops like strawberries will get you more than 2 experience points a day because you can harvest them every 4 hours.
You have to be on top of your harvesting and planting cycles in order to make progress this way though. Putting up buildings on your farm remains the best way to get big boosts in your experience quickly. Save up your cash for those, and you’ll be well on your way to unlocking all of the available items in FarmVille.

Learn how to cheat at Farmville on Facebook
If youâre having trouble getting a hang of the way of things in
FarmVille, youâre not alone. I know of quite a few people who got into
the game expecting it to be easy as pie and were quickly frustrated. In
fact, I was one of them. So I went looking for a guide to help me
master the farming life.
I actually tried quite a few of these guides, but not many of them had
much helpful information to give. They were either designed for people
whoâd gotten all the way to the upper levels already, or they were
severely outdated because of additions made to the game since they
were released. FarmVille is a relatively new game and is still in the Beta
stage, so a lot of improvements have been made to it in a short time
and many of the guides on the market have not been updated to
account for these changes.
So I finally broke down and bought FarmVille Secrets. This guide has
been released pretty recently, so itâs up to date on all of the latest
advances in the game. I found it to be immensely helpful to me, and I
was quickly raking in the coins and moving up in levels like you
wouldnât believe.
In addition to the helpful tips, FarmVille Secrets also includes some
handy charts and other resources that help you to compare items
available in the Market and also helps you to plan out your spending
and improvement strategies. I think youâll be as pleasantly surprised
as I was when you read this guide and put the tips in it to use on your
farm. I started to see results overnight almost. Itâs definitely a
guide worth checking out if youâre having trouble getting the hang of
FarmVille, or if you just want to give your game an extra boost. Either
way, youâll be happy you tried it.

Getting Started in FarmVille.
If you’re new to the world of FarmVille, it won’t likely take long for you to figure out why this game has captured the imagination of so many people. There are a ton of options when it comes to what seeds you can grow, what buildings and decorations you can put on your farm, and which types of livestock you choose to raise. Because you do have so many options though, it can be a little difficult at first to figure out where to start in order to develop your farm right.
Expand Slowly
You want to get the most out of your land when you’re working in FarmVille. This means that you’ll want to clear a substantial amount of land so that you can plant as many crops as possible. You do have to be careful about how much land you clear at once though. It costs 15 coins to clear one plot of land, so if you clear too many at once, you won’t have any coins left to buy the seeds you want to plant.
It’s best to slowly expand your plowed plots of land so that you’re always able to take full advantage of their planting potential. After each harvest, it’s a good idea to replant on all of your current plots first. Once you’ve done this it will be much easier to figure out how much more land you can afford to clear this time around. Following this pattern will quickly allow you to expand your farm while ensuring that you always have enough money to plant on all of your cleared plots.
Plan Your Harvests
Another aspect of FarmVille that it can be tough to get the hang of at first is timing your harvests right. Each crop you plant in the game will take a particular amount of time to mature. Once a crop is mature, you can harvest it. But don’t wait too long. If you don’t get back in time, your crops will wither and you’ll just have to plow the land again and start over. It’s important to plan your plantings so that you’ll be able to get back to check on your farm before this happens.
One of the great things about FarmVille is that you can take it as seriously as you want to take it. If you only want to log in once a week, that’s fine. Just make sure you plant crops that will last that long. Once you start playing though, it’s not likely you’ll be able to stay away for very long.

Oscar The Cat Predicts When Patients Are About To Die
US scientist David Dosa was sceptical when first told that Oscar, an aloof cat kept by a nursing home, regularly predicted patients’ deaths by snuggling alongside them in their final hours.
But Dr Dosa’s doubts eroded after he and his colleagues tallied about 50 correct calls made by Oscar over five years, a process he explains in a book released this week, Making Rounds With Oscar: The Extraordinary Gift of an Ordinary Cat.
The feline’s bizarre talent astounds Dr Dosa, but he finds Oscar’s real worth in his fierce insistence on being present when others turn away from life’s most uncomfortable topic: death.
“People actually were taking great comfort in this idea, that this animal was there and might be there when their loved ones eventually pass,” Dr Dosa said. “He was there when they couldn’t be.”
Dr Dosa, 37, is a geriatrician and professor from Rhode Island who treats patients with severe dementia. It’s usually the last stop for people so ill they cannot speak or recognise their spouses, and so spend their days lost in fragments of memory.
He once feared that families would be horrified by the furry grim reaper, especially after he made Oscar famous in a 2007 essay in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Instead, he says many caregivers consider Oscar a comforting presence, and some have praised him in newspaper death notices and eulogies.
“Maybe they’re seeing what they want to see,” he said, “but what they’re seeing is a comfort to them in a real difficult time in their lives.”
The nursing home adopted Oscar, a medium-haired cat with a grey and brown back and white belly, in 2005 because its staff think that pets make the Steere House in Providence a home.
They play with visiting children and prove a welcome distraction for patients and doctors alike.
After a year, the staff noticed that Oscar would spend his days pacing from room to room. He sniffed and looked at the patients but rarely spent much time with anyone - except when they had just hours to live.
He’s accurate enough that the staff - including Dr Dosa - know it’s time to call family members when Oscar stretches beside a patient, who is generally too ill to notice his presence.
If kept outside the room of a dying patient, he’ll scratch at doors and walls, trying to get in.
Nurses once placed Oscar in the bed of a patient they thought gravely ill.
Oscar wouldn’t stay put, and the staff thought his streak was broken.
It turned out the medical professionals were wrong, and the patient rallied for two more days. But in the final hours, Oscar held his bedside vigil without prompting.
Dr Dosa does not explain Oscar scientifically in his book, although he theorises the cat imitates the nurses who raised him or smells odours given off by dying cells, perhaps like some dogs who scientists say can detect cancer using their sense of scent.
Dr Dosa says several patients in his book are partly fictional, though the names and stories of the caregivers he interviews are real.
Donna Richards told Dr Dosa that she felt guilty for putting her mother in a nursing home. She felt guilty for not visiting enough. When caring for her mother, she felt guilty about missing her teenage son’s swimming lessons.
She was at her mother’s bedside nonstop when she knew she was nearing her end. But after three days, a nurse persuaded her to go home for a brief rest. Despite her misgivings, Ms Richards agreed. Her mother died a short while later.
But she didn’t die alone. Oscar was there.

Lie-down in economy now a reality with Air New Zealand
Air New Zealand will transform international air travel later this year when it introduces revolutionary, Kiwi designed lie-flat economy and ground breaking premium economy seats, together with enhanced comforts for those wanting the ultimate in luxurious Business Premier travel.
The airline today revealed its prototype designs in a full-scale Boeing 777-300 cabin inside its design innovation centre in Aucklandâs CBD, just a few hundred metres from its head office.
Chief Executive Officer Rob Fyfe says when the airline takes delivery of its first new Boeing 777-300 ER in November this year it will redefine the long haul travel experience and set a benchmark for competitors to follow.
âAir New Zealand is putting the magic and romance back into flying. For the past three years we have been designing a new long haul experience that will reignite the passion of todayâs travellers,â Mr Fyfe says.
âFor those who choose, the days of sitting in economy and yearning to lie down and sleep are gone. The dream is now a reality, one that you can even share with atravelling companion â just keep your clothes on thanks!â
The âSkycouchâ, a specially designed row of three seats, has been engineered to create a lie-flat, flexible space all the way to the seat-back in front, providing a place for the kids to play, or the holy grail of economy travel â a flat surface for adults to relax and sleep.
Twenty-two sets of Skycouch seats will be available, being the first 11 window rows in the Economy Class cabin.
For two adults travelling, purchasing the Skycouch will be based on buying two seats at standard prices with the third seat at approximately half price. Full airfare details will be announced when it goes on sale from late April.
Air New Zealandâs Premium Economy cabin has also had a dramatic makeover.
âMost airlinesâ Premium Economy offering leaves travellers with economy-style food and service. By complete contrast, our new Premium Economy cabin with uniquely Kiwi designed Spaceseats will offer unparalleled comfort and legroom with new shared-meal experiences more familiar in tapas restaurants or bistros than at 35,000 feet,â says Mr Fyfe.
Air New Zealandâs award winning Business Premier cabin has also been enhanced with complete on-demand food and beverage service more akin to premium dining and an enhanced sleep experience to ensure travellers really do feel theyâve snuggled into their own bed.
The new interior design scheme includes a move away from traditional blues and greens to a more luxurious blend of chalk and deep ink colours.
Mr Fyfe says each of the three zones in Air New Zealandâs long haul aircraft of the future will be a step ahead of competitors from a comfort perspective and the experience will be further underpinned by the worldâs most innovative food and beverage service and state-of-the-art entertainment system.
âBeing able to order a steak, medium rare in Business Premier, a pizza for two in Premium Economy or a late night snack in Economy, whenever you want, will be a very cool experience. New oven technology that will cook food from scratch rather than simply reheating and a new digital in-seat ordering service will make this truly the first time real food has been served at 35,000 feet.
âCoupled with some of the worldâs best wines like gold-medal winning sauvignon blancs from Marlborough, pinot noirs from Central Otago and cabernet merlots and syrahs from Hawkeâs Bay, we will be serving an incredible dining experience!â
The 340 seat 777-300 aircraft will be configured with 246 in Economy (including 66 seats creating 22 Skycouch combinations), 50 in Premium Economy and 44 in Business Premier.
The first routes to offer travellers the next generation of long haul travel will be on selected NZ5 and NZ6 services between Auckland and Los Angeles from December followed by dedicated return services on NZ1 and NZ2 between Auckland and Los Angeles and through to London from April 2011.
Air New Zealand expects to also refit its fleet of eight Boeing 777-200 aircraft from mid next year, with all Asian, North American and UK services to have the new product by around 2012.

The Ultimate Recipe to Make Money Online
As you know a well written article can do wonders for your exposure and traffic.
The article should contain good useful information. It should be of interest to the reader. A boring article could possibly brand your site as boring also. Although, someone might find it useful if they’re having trouble sleeping. You might want to write about your tips and techniques and turn them into a series of articles for the newcomers that are starting out in this business.
An article that solves someoneâs particular problem or answers their questions is a good article. You will be amazed at the number of people that will read an informative and interesting article.
Whatever it is you choose to write about, you will be starting from the headline; it should catch the peopleâs attention. It must make them read the next paragraph with eagerness to learn more. The title of your article can more or less determine the success of your articles exposure.
Your chosen article topic must match the contents or theme of your website. If your expertise is about banner marketing and your website reflects this, then writing your article about the pros and cons of banner advertising or creation could be a good option.
You article introduction should be powerful continuing from the headline. It must be compelling enough to keep the reader wanting more.
The content must be interesting and informative. It must contain what the headline and introduction promises. If the content is written with the intention to help the reader solve their problem or answer their questions, then your reader will appreciate your information and continue reading to the end and hopefully clicking on your link for more satisfying advice. At this point the reader already likes your work and the chances of him or her buying your product has been fused with trust.
As mentioned earlier the placement of your keywords is paramount to the success of your article reaching its target market. The keyword/s should exist in the headline of your article, in the introduction, and in the main body. They should not interfere with the flow of you message and they should look like they belong there. Your keyword density probably shouldnât exceed 3% in your article. This would simply mean 3 keywords for every hundred words.
Your article might be seen by thousands of potential customers, so it is important that you include a brief description of yourself or your product along with your name and website URL on the bottom. Your little ad here should entice the reader to visit the link.

Starting an eZine Publication & Converting Every Visitor into Subscribers
Starting your own eZine can be a lot easier than you think. This is because in the most basic necessity, all you really need to get started publishing your own paperless newsletter are wealth of content, auto responder with broadcast feature, and a website (which is optional).
Content. You can compile weeks of content ahead in advance and slowly dispense them to your subscribers. For example, you can compile 100 short tips in one day and dispense 10 tips once a week. In other words, you can compile 10 weeks worth of content in just one day!
Auto responder. Your auto responder is your asset. You need an auto responder to send your mails and eZine issues to your subscribers and store your data base of people subscribed to your newsletter. Some recommended auto responders include GetResponse.com and aWeber.com.
Website. You may be surprised that this is actually an optional component. In short, there are eZine publishers publishing their newsletters without a website! But of course, having your own website can offer you tremendous advantages, such as the ability to bring in more subscribers and having your newsletter indexed in the top Search Engines.
These are the things you need to get started on publishing your own eZine at its bare minimum. Do not underestimate the little you need, though, because several eZine publishers today succeed well with only an auto responder and contents, with or without a website.
Converting Every Visitor into Subscriber. If a person visits your website and leaves, chances are that he or she will not come back, especially if there are no compelling reasons to do so. After all, we all behave rather impulsively on the Internet, so much so that we can easily forget where we were 10 web pages ago.
But the bottom line is that your visitor may not come back to your website again. If 1,000 visitors visit your website, leave and never come back again, you can imagine the amount of potential revenue lost, simply because they do not come back. You could have converted a fraction of the visitors into your customers.
Some may say that creating unique content can keep some of the visitors coming back, but very often, unique content is not the solution. The real, long-term solution lies in converting your visitors into subscribers of your mailing list.
Before your visitor leaves your website, you want to convert him or her into your subscriber via a simple opt-in to your mailing list. You do this by asking for your visitorâs name and email address through your opt-in form.
And if your visitor signs up to be on your mailing list, you can still follow up with him via email. You can get your subscriber to consider your offer, or endorse another offer to him or her.
All in all, you want to convert as many visitors into subscribers as possible and obtain the potential revenue you rightfully deserve â the easy, wise way.

Article Marketing - The Bad, The unsightly, and The Good
When most people think of Article Marketing, what comes to mind is usually how to write the article rather then how to market it. But there is anthor way and I will show you in this article.
The latest rage seems to be Article marketing and with good reason. It’s by far the best free means of promoting your business and increasing your sales and opt in subscribers.
By submitting your articles to article directories, article announcement lists, and ezine publishers, you achieve several things.
First, you establish yourself as an expert in your field. Readers are more likely to listen to you if they feel you know what you are talking about.
Second, by attaching a resource box to your article, you are giving the reader a link to your website. If the reader is impressed with your knowledge, they will probable click on your link to see what it is that you are offering.
Third, you increase your search engine page rank by providing a non-reciprocal link to your website. Search engines seem to give extra weight to non-reciprocal links in their page rankings.
But many marketers are not comfortable writing their own articles. They just do not understand how to put their thoughts into words. Or worse yet, they do not have any thoughts merit printing.
That is why private label articles are in such high demand these days. There are several of these services available and more seem to be popping up every day.
Therein lies the problem. Depending on how these articles are used, the results can be good, bad, or downright unsightly.
The Bad: A everyday mistake made by marketers using private label articles is getting lazy. They merely copy and paste the article and submit it, as is, with no personalization.
At the very least, you should change the title. Most article directories require that your article be approved before they are posted. But do you actually think they read every article that comes in? Not likely.
They get dozens, even hundreds of submissions every day, so it’s unlikely that your article will really be read.
But most directory software will automatically search their database for duplicate titles. If the title of your article matches one in their database, yours will be rejected.
So do yourself a favor and at the very least, change the title. It might also be a good idea to change the wording in the first paragraph.
The unsightly: Many marketers load so many links in their article that it becomes one long ad. This will not only get you rejected, but ultimately banned if you do it frequently enough.
The Good: As stated previously, private label articles, when used correctly, can give the non-writer a big superiority over other marketers. They can increase your traffic, sales, and opt in subscribers. That is good.
A good article contains useful knowledge to the reader whether they buy your products or not. Present to them good content and you will increase the chances that they will click your link in the resource box.
Private label articles are a great tool, but do not get lazy!

Protect Your Network From Identity Theft Now!
It is deniable that our works and lives are more convenient and easier when using wireless. We can work anywhere and that is why wireless networks are becoming so popular. Especially if you have broadband Internet access, a wireless router can give you instant communication with the world.
Imagine you are sitting by the pool and enjoying chatting through the Internet. Or lounging in the Jacuzzi listening to your MP3 collection is appealing to us all. Unfortunately, many, or even most, wireless units don’t come with security features already functioning. This may not seem like a big issue to someone who is simply setting up a home network, but there are a number of potential problems you should consider.
Identity theft seems to be the most serious problem. If your network is unsecured, the personal data on your wireless electronic equipment is also unsecured. The order you just placed for a book at Amazon may have given your contact and payment information to an unscrupulous hacker! Nearly every town in which “WiFi” is common will have “War Drivers” and “War Chalkers” at work. These are people who walk or drive around town with wireless equipment, searching for unsecured networks. The “Chalkers” then live up their name, marking curbs and other public items with chalk so that others can more easily find and exploit your network.
In fact, not all “War Drivers” are hackers, of course. Many just want to use your network for free, but the risk is high if you don’t learn how to protect yourself. You can usually find quite a bit of free information as to how to secure your network at the website of your router’s manufacturer, or by doing a search in a search engine for a phrase like “secure home wireless.”
In addition, there are also your neighbors who may find your network by accident and enjoy nosing into your activities and using your Internet access at will, slowing down your network speed in the process.
Even many businesses use cheap, home-use quality equipment for their company networks. With the poor security often found on small business networks, anyone with a basic knowledge of wireless can access sensitive company and customer data.
It is highly recommended that you hire service companies to secure your network for you, or else you will have to bear with a risk of being exploited. A search of your local yellow pages or an inquiry at your neighborhood computer store should yield professional help and get your private data private again.

What Is An Intranet? Definition and Uses…
An intranet is basically a private web based network. It uses all of the technology of the internet but is safe and protected behind a firewall that keeps unauthorized personnel out. Companies have been using them for years as a method of streamlining their internal communications.
Because a web browser can run on any type of computer, the need to maintain multiple paper copies of documents that are constantly changing can be eliminated. Documents like training manuals, internal phone books, procedure manuals, benefits information, employee handbooks, requisition forms, etc. can be maintained as electronic documents and updated at almost no cost. The savings in paper and other material costs can be significant
But the most powerful aspect of an intranet is its ability to display information in the same format to every computer being used. That allows all of the different software and databases a company uses to be available to all employees without any special equipment or software being installed on their systems.
This universal availability of information is sparking an era of collaboration unlike anything ever seen before. The departmental barriers that exist in many companies are slowing breaking down because now colleagues can share information readily using the company intranet.
Options for implementing an intranet
There are a variety of options for setting up an intranet. They include building your own intranet technology, purchasing and installing third-party software, or purchasing access through an extranet ASP. Here is a quick summary of the advantages and disadvantages of each approach:
1. Building it yourself
Advantages: Complete control of user interface design; ability to customize level of functionality; integration into internal systems, and direct access to user activity.
Disadvantages: High up-front development cost; requires staff expertise in the development of extranets, commitment of internal staff for 6 months to a year for planning, execution, review and implementation; and an ongoing commitment of internal staff for internal and client support, hosting, maintenance and upgrades.
2. Purchasing/installing third-party software
Advantages: Proven track-record of packaged solution; ability to choose functions and to
customize user interface, more rapid implementation compared to building it yourself.
Disadvantages: High up-front purchase cost; commitment of internal staff for customization and implementation; on-going commitment of internal staff for internal and client support, hosting, maintenance and upgrades; and extensive internal and client training
3. Using a Service Provider (ASP)
Advantages: Proven track-record of the application; low cost of entry and predictable cost over time; virtually immediate implementation; no commitment of internal staff for internal support, hosting, or maintenance; and upgrades at no cost by extranet experts, and savings on internal server use.
Disadvantages: Less freedom in user interface design, and fixed functionality.
In the final analysisâŚ
The approach you choose depends on how you work, the technical and financial resources at your disposal, and how rapidly you need to move forward.

Setting Up and Securing Your Wireless Network
There are more and more individuals opting to work from home than ever before. The advantages to this are many including avoiding the morning and evening rush hours, being able to spend time with your kids and significant other, and doing everything on your own time. Though the pitfalls are many, the one that I will be focusing on in this article is that of setting up a secure wireless network for your home based business. Right now somewhere out there, there is someone with a receiver waiting to pick up on an unsuspecting personâs wireless local area network. Their hope is to garner some sensitive information that may lead to identity theft, and stolen proprietary business information.
Most businesses owners are not technically inclined, though they may be power users, in general security settings is not one of the first things they want to mess around with in their day to day operations. This makes most wireless LANs a great target for information predators.
Here are some general guidelines to follow in setting up your wireless network. Though it may vary from vendor to vendor, the gist is more or less the same:
1. Setup the wireless access/router point via a wired client.
2. Always change the factory setting password to something difficult for someone to guess.
3. Enable 128-bit Wired Equivalency Privacy (WEP) encryption on both your access point and network card. From time to time change the WEP key entries. If your hardware does not support a minimal of 128 bit WEP encryption, then it may be time to replace this dinosaur. WEP is only a minimal security precaution, which is better than none at all.
4. Alter the factory default SSID on the access/router point to a convoluted difficult to guess string. Initiate your computer to connect to this configured SSID by default.
5. Setup your access point not to broadcast the SSID if available.
6. Block off anonymous internet requests and pings.
7. P2P Connections should be disabled.
8. Enable MAC filtering.
9. Enable firewall on the network router/access point with demilitarized zone function disabled. Enable client firewalls for each computer in the network.
10. Update router and access point firmware as updates become available.
11. Make sure the physical router is hidden so that a random person canât reset the settings.
12. Position the physical router near the middle of the establishment as opposed to near windows to prevent others outside from receiving the signals.
These and other settings will collectively help prevent any unwanted intrusions on your private data.

Recognize And Understand Home Networking Components
If you have not decided already, you will soon want to network your two or more computers in your home. You want to be armed to the teach with knowledge of just what it takes to connect your computers to one another.
You first should decide which network is best your you. If your computers are in the same room, the Wireless network should not be considered. The wired by cable network should work just fine.
Computer that may be close to each other but cannot be seen may and have phone jacks close by can easily be networked with the HomePNA Network. While PCs that are far from each other can be connected with the powerline network, assuming wall outlets are nearby.
And when there are computers in different rooms and you want the convenience of moving the systems from room to room, the more expensive Wireless Network is the way to go.After you decide on the type of network that is best for you, knowing what components you’ll need to purchase will be a great help.Let’s take a look at each network and the components needed to get it up and running.
The WIRED ETHERNET NETWORK
If your computers are in the same room, the basic network kit can wire your systems together.Be sure to carefully open any kit or component you purchase and do not damage the box it came in.The purpose for this is to make it easy to return the component if needed.
Basic kits will have instructions and software for the network as seen as two NICs.Better known as Network Interface Cards, these NICs are installed in empty slots in the system unit. The PCI slot is where the card is installed and there are the USB adapters as well. The network will need cabling to connect the computers and the CAT 5 or Category 5 cable is the one to look for.
Ethernet networks come in two speeds, which are 10 and 100mbps or megabits per second. The wired network will also need a Hub or a Switch to direct traffic from each system. If you want fast traffic, and who don’t,you will want to connect a Switch instead of a Hub.If you want all PCs to connect to the Internet, most kits come with Special Bridging Software which links the systems together.
The WIRELESS HOME NETWORK
Wireless networks rely on radio frequency to transmit and receive data.Wireless network equipment will offer you the choice of both wired and wireless connections.
If your computers are in direct line of each other, the IR or Infrared frequency can be used. But most wireless networks now use the Radio Transceiver technology with computers being located just about anywhere.
You will need a Wireless Router to connect each PC to the network.Wireless NIC Cards must be installed in each computer in the network. When you purchase your wireless kit, take note of the indoor range.
As you can see when looking at the wireless Router, you have the option to wire your computers together should something go wrong with any wireless component.Take note of the difference between the wired nic and the wireless nic cards.
The POWERLINE NETWORK
The powerline network uses the electrical wiring in your home to transfer data to and from each computer.Present powerline networks run between 50kbps or Kilobits Per Second and 350kbps.
This network has a drawback in back it will have lots of electrical noise which will cause the network to lose speed. And other PC users can snoop in your computer if they know how.
This network will need a Router for data transfer and nic cards for each system.A Bridge will be needed for access to the internet. These Bridges can be used with your Router.
The PHONELINE NETWORK
The components you will need in the Home Network are close to that of the Wireless network. In most cases, the 10mbps speed network is fast enough for home users.
The computers are connected with a Switch,a gateway,or Router to share Internet access and to send data to each computer through the phone line network. This network is considered the easiest to setup.
Phoneline Network adapters are installed in each PC. The USB or Universal Seriel Bus port connection is the most commonly used adapter for Phoneline networks. To reduce line noise,a Phone Filter may be needed. If you plan to connect a phone and line in one phone jack.you will have to invest in a Line Splitter.Be sure each computer in the network are close to a phone jack.
The Phoneline Network is thought to be less expensive .more dependable and faster when compared with the Powerline network.
In a nutshell, all networks will need some type of adapter inserted in the computer. Each network will need a hub, switch,or router to transfer data.Windows 98,Me,and XP will have the needed software to make everything work together.Adapters and and other hardware will come with device driver software which enables the hardware to talk to the computer.
We have taken a brief look at the hardware needed to network two or more computers.Connecting the hardware was rather simple when we networked our computers using the wireless technology.Learn all you can about PC networking and you will be grateful in having this knowledge should you experience computer problems.
Since we have seen basic network components, its time to see how each component is installed and connected. Then we’re going to see how to move data from one machine to the other and share the internet using broadband with a DSL or a Cable modem.Remember to enjoy learning about your computer by performing as many tasks as you can without causing damage to your system.
